Saul: An old guy who "works for the government"
Derek: An ex-army medic from New Zealand
Debbie: A young woman who works in marketing, from Arizona
Courtney: A wealthy New York business man
Roman Cole: Scottish dive master, annoyed about something

Captain Romero: Captain
Billy Haynes: Texas oil millionaire - DECEASED
Mitzi Haynes: Briefly deceased wife of Billy - DECEASED
Naomi: Hugely attractive best friend of Debbie

Jason Kirkman: Head of security aboard the Pinnacle

Bob, Petra, Saul, Derek, Debbie and Courtney accompanied the three medics down to the infirmary. Two of the medics were bitten and had patched each other up, the other was still suffering the effects of the unearthly moan uttered by Mrs Haynes. No-one had been able to raise the infirmary either on the phone or by radio.
When they reached the infirmary the lights were out and one of the medics went inside to turn on the lights. The now visible infirmary looked like a charnel house - blood pooled on the floor and was smeared on the walls. Billy Haynes was clearly visible - naked and covered in blood - gnawing on the face of a corpse. The group were all horrified and two of the medics immediately fled. Billy Haynes let out a moan much like that of his wife. Most of the group fled the infirmary. Bob went searching for a weapon and found a fire axe hanging on the wall. Debbie pulled her friend Naomi out of the room and down the corridor. Petra found a fire extinguisher hanging on the wall. Courtney legged it down the hall, pausing only to set off the fire alarm. Derek entered the infirmary looking for a weapon. He made it up onto the counter of the nurses station, finding another corpse lying on the floor. He was approached by Billy but kicked him in the head hoping to push him back. Billy lunged forward and sunk his teeth into Derek's thigh. Derek ran for the operating theatres at the back of the infirmary, hoping to find a weapon. Saul, hearing the commotion, re-entered the infirmary and also started looking for a weapon.
Bob reached the elevator and met a young girl called Lucy, who seemed to know about the zombies and also seemed fairly unconcerned. They waited for the elevator. Debbie and Naomi entered a bar opposite the elevator looking for weapons or a way to contact security. Courtney decided the elevator was taking to long and left via the fire stairs.
Derek found himself trapped in the operating theatre, though he was managing to keep Billy at bay with a gurney. Saul jumped into the nurses station and found a small fire extinguisher and a first aid kit. Petra seeing that Saul was being chased by a second zombie lept to the attack and smashed in the head of a zombie with her fire extinguisher. A third zombie then rose up. Petra threw her extinguisher at the new zombie to little effect and fled. She met Roman Cole in the corridor and tried to convince him to run away from the zombie behind him. He refused and was almost immediately savagely bitten on the neck, almost dying. Derek managed to zap Billy with a defibrillator and run from the operating theatre. As he was leaving the infirmary he met Roman entering, looking for help.
At this point ship security turned up and demanded everyone drop their weapons and cease robbing the bar. Everyone tried to convince the security guards that something terrible was happening, to little avail. It wasn't until Saul explained the situation while nearly being bitten by a zombie that the security guards opened fire. Bob was also shot at fleeing the scene.
Debbie was attacked by a fourth zombie but managed to bring it down with a stolen bottle of booze. The group then fled back to their floor. Roman saw the three security guards being devoured as the group fled the floor.
When the group met up again they were all being covered by another group of security guards. They met Jason Kirkman, head of security. Debbie did such a good job of explaining to Kirkman what was going on that they weren't all immediately arrested, though it was unclear whether he believed them about the zombie aspect of their story. The group visited their own rooms to collect personal effects and then were confined to Courtney's room.
They were just beginning to bed down when a terrified scream was heard from outside...

Character creation and first session

This is a simple blog to track my running of the Savage Worlds game War of the Dead.

PCs:
Bob: A smooth talking dentist on holidays
Petra: A Russian athlete with a secret
Saul: An old guy who "works for the government"
Derek: An ex-army medic from New Zealand
Debbie: A young woman who works in marketing, from Arizona
Courtney: A wealthy New York business man

NPCs of note:
Mr Forthington: Owner of the Pinacle
Captain Romero: Captain
Billy Haynes: Texas oil millionaire
Mitzi Haynes: Briefly deceased wife of Billy
Naomi: Hugely attractive best friend of Debbie

The PCs meet for dinner on their first night aboard the Pinnacle. It is the Pinnacles maiden voyage and a huge party is going on. The PCs also meet Billy Hayes and introductions are made all round. Derek notices that Billy is ill and keeps an eye on him. Naomi proves to be hugely popular and Bob, Derek and Courtney compete for her attention. Bob scores early points by being first to ask her to dance. Courtney leaves in search better company.
Billy's health continues to decline and Derek is the first to react when he slumps to the floor. He commences CPR while Saul and Petra go for help. They run into the kitchen area. Petra gets one of the wait staff to call the medical emergency number and Saul heads off to the infirmary. Wanting to keep a low profile, Petra heads to her room and stays there.
Saul meets the crash team and leads them to the table where Derek is still performing CPR. The crash team take over, placing Billy on a stretcher and taking him away. Derek accompanies the team to the infirmary, filling them in as they go. Once they arrive, however, he is politely ushered out of the infirmary.
Billy's wife arrives at the table, wondering where her husband is, Debbie and Saul inform her of what happened and she runs for the infirmary. Captain Romero arrives at the table and apologises to Debbie and Saul for their discomfort and provides them with a number of hampers of food and free champagne. Derek arrives back just as the champagne starts flowing and the party continues.
Later, the PCs are heading back to their cabins. Just outside the elevator they find Mrs Hayes stumbling along the corridor bleeding heavily from a wound on her arm and incoherent. She begs the PCs to take her to her room and mutters about Billy being very angry. When she arrives at her room she immediately collapses on the bed. Derek attempts to ascertain the cause of the wound on her arm but either because of the amount of blood or the amount of booze fails to do so. Saul wraps a towel around her arm. Minutes later another crash team arrives and goes to work. A couple of minutes after that Mrs Hayes dies, completely unexpectedly, according to the crash team's reactions.
Everyone mills around for a minute and are completely taken by surprise a minute later when Mrs Hayes appears to come back from the dead. The crash team react immediately, attempting to comfort her. Mrs Hayes acts erratically, appearing to try to bite one of the crash team. Saul manages to hold her down but she soon breaks free, again attempting to bite the crash team. At this point, Mrs Hayes emits of low, terrifying moan and one of the crash team flees the room. Mrs Hayes then manages to bite the two remaining crash team members while Saul attempts to again hold her down. Moved to action Debbie attempts to knock Mrs Hayes out with a lamp, with little result.
The crash team doctors announce that everyone is to leave the room and they all flee. The crash team locks the door with a special pass card and everyone breathes a sigh of relief.
